Brent has been banned.

I'd just like to announce that Brent has been permanently banned from the site for repeated violations of the ToS, including trolling, offensive behavior towards other members/staff, and refusal to stay within the guidelines. Repeated warnings and temp-bans have proven ineffective.

This has been discussed extensively, and agreed among all the staff.

Even though he had in the past contributed a lot to SG, and I appreciate that, these times are long gone. Lately he's been just making a mockery of the site, at minimum, repeatedly breaking the rules and not responding to our warnings.

Banning is not something I like doing, but at times we have no other means of enforcing the rules.

I wouldnt go as far as to lock it until something is done to warrant it. People are going to naturally ask questions and this is the best way for the SG staff to address them without repeating themselves hundreds of times. Now if people get out of hand then I definitely agree.

Philip has already explained why in the post.

You know what happens here when someone is unable to respond to negative posts; it becomes a one-sided free-for-all and people get their little jabs in.

He explained that it was due to breakinga ToS which is an obvious thing. Naturally its going to be that. Questions may remain on which specific one.

it's too bad. At one time Brent was a highly valuable member and I even had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but as mentioned before those days are long gone.

In the Gen Discussion Forum, we give as much leeway as possible to keep the tech forums clean, although a point in time arrives that we have to alleviate the repeated and never ending problems...

Oh well, after how nice he was to ctodd in teh hardware forum I'd say its a good thing, befroe at least his junk was all in the gen forum, but then moving into the helpful places and being an ass to a random person was real nice on his part.

Can't say that I'm surprised.

Brent you "were" a good guy but something happened in your life along the way to make you bitter, combatant and just not yourself. I'm sorry for that as I'm sure everyone here is too. Hope you find some kind of solitude in your life that leads to a road of happiness.

back when I joined but he has changed alot since then, sadly.

I guess I will just never understand why...if a person has become disheartened with a site, disappointed, or angry..why they do just not move along and go somewhere else that they do enjoy. Why waste all the efforts and times of the mods, administrators, etc., who have clearly given so many unselfish chances...possibly because of prior behavior, in the hopes of it returning. That is almost like a "forced suicide" , and a cowards way out...imho.. or another way of saying..I'll show you! Or the wish that he or she might make you feel badly before the final axe.

Ahh behold the power of IP logging.. Phillip knows brent's IP and if a "new" member starts making issues then im sure the crew here will deal with it swiftly and justly..

I took all his comments in stride.. I really didn't see to much of a bother when it was in here, the GENERAL fourm.. In the other fourms, people are asking for help. With knowledge comes power and responsiblity.. People may lack giving all the needed details, but hey.. not everyone knows how to ask for help, nor does everyone what they need to tell us when it comes to asking for help.
