There were difference of political opinons yes, especially in Europe, but not as extreme as you might lead folks to believe. I work for a multinational company for almost 7 years now - over the past 3 years or so I would say things have shifted towards teh direction Rivas suggests, tho not so extreme.

well i said before pretty "very" anti american because "few" americans were beaten up in Whistler here in Canada just because for who they are.I dont agree with it :irate:
When i was calling my mom in Europe last week she told me there are some big issues happening and police investigations because american students are beaten up in pubs or public transits.
And he told me 20 years ago ....DUH ...it was 20 years ago !!!
When i mentioned it here ,i'm a hater and i hate every us citizen lol, izzo gimme a break :rotfl:

You made a very prejudiced statement - you should expect that any one of the 300mil+ citizens of the US might take afront to being thought of a single entity.

I sincerely doubt that anyone on these boards does any of the things you mention. People are mad at our gov't and take it out on us - so expect some hostile responses.

I was in the Marines for over 20 years, but I wasn't talking about 20 years a go. My time spanned from a newly elected Reagan to the current Bush. People thought Reagan was a war-monger then the same as they think of Bush now. The whole world is changing. Unfortunately we have to change along with it.

I don't recall that much from that age, but did people back then actually think of Reagan with the same vile and hatred that people today feel for G'Dubs?

Depends with whom you spoke. I was in Norway for almost 2 months and the younger generation (20s-30s) thought of him as a president who just wanted to dominate other countries. I was also in Hussum, Germany for a month and it was somewhat the same, but a bit less vocal. In 1986 I participated in a massive NATO excersize that included stays in Norway, Denmark, Germany and Italy. We trained with troops from dozens of different countries and most didn't show an absolute hatred for us, but thought of us as arrogant and dominating. When you carry a big stick you better know how to use it or someone will take it away.

The world has changed and there are those that are focusing their hatred directly at us. Look what Moussaoui said today. He relished the thought of killing any and all Americans and it "Make his day" to see folks suffering. How do you combat a religious themed hatred like that? (please don't bring up the Crusades because that was a few weeks before our time! and irrelevant.)

These whiny, spineless, pukes that spit on their own flag and think we should throw down our arms completely are just plain ignorant. Do they think Bin Laden will invite them over for dinner and a round of Kum By Allah :rockin: :rtfm:

Reagan was seen as the one who ended the cold war - there was a clear and present danger from a known enemy. He ran huge deficits in order to bankrupt the USSR. It worked.

In dubya's case, there is certainly someone somewhere that hates us, but much like the war on drugs can the war on terrorism ever be won? We are bankrupting the country (look at teh deficit) to fight a war with no path to victory. Will a stable Iraq win this war? Of course not.

In the war on drugs we sought to put people in jails for the rest of their life. In the war on terror we are using the military. Notice we have not won either - and I don't think the military will win the war on terror.

As they say - hearts n minds. You need to remove the fuel before trying to extinguish the flames or they'll just keep coming back...

Reaganites (like my father - one of the most diehard you'll ever meet) think dubya is shooting us in hte collective foot. Hence the term 'neocon' - he doesn't fit as a conservative - too financially involved and WAY too big-brotehr for old school conservatives.

Do you even know what your saying, and how bad it looks?

So you want to go and nuke Russia because they deserves to get blown off the map, do you not understand by doing this your country would become dust  but thats ok because they will be turned to dust aswell right?

Just for info Russia has as many if not more nuke weapons then the USA.

lets nuke iran instead of waiting for another Hitler

people have become way too complacent nowadays..and forget 9-11 so soon...what else we need to wake us ourselves up?
