Cleaning a Toshiba Satellite!

Post by ratchet »

I want to clean my daughters notebook next week. Can I remove the back? I have never messed with notebooks and don't have it here to look at. Can I do this? Thank You!

Taking apart laptops is a learning experience...I'll tell ya that.

"Can I do it?" That's up to you and your ability to figure out parts, and your memory. If you do decide to do it...just document each and every part that you remove, one by one, so that you can put it back together again.

Nothing more fun than finishing putting something back together..and having lots of leftover parts. :rotfl:

I don't think you should remove the back, but you can remove the fan cover and clean the fan mesh and the two fans, use a paint brush to remove any dust and blow hard.
When people are in need they tend to be nice, so it is best to not judge a person until they are content.

Laptops are a pain in the ass! You can remove it all, but label the screws you take out and hwo it all goes back together.

lol! Good one Burke! Basically Jada, that is what I have in mind. I hope I recognize how to do it. It has been shutting off on her. It was doing that before and at Christmas I sucked a lot of fuzz out through the screens with a shop vac and it really helped. I just want to do a thorough job this time. Thank You!

Ratchet as the Cat said be careful...just be very careful of all the sensitive ribbon cables that are inside if they become detached or torn you are basically screwed. I hate messin with laptops.

If you take anything apart have your digital camera handy.

A few pictures can make it a lot easier to put something back together again properly.
