Question about MaxConnectionsPerSever

Post by Emerson222 »

Ok, I noticed that you guys say you should have your MaxConnectionsPerSever at 10,.......

and you should have your MaxConnectionsPer1_0Sever at 20...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I did some testing and set my MaxConnectionsPerSever at 60

And MaxConnectionsPer1_0Sever at 120..... And my Web pages seem to load a lot faster, almost instant....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, is there any downfall to this?

And what would be the max for Windows XP with 3Mb (download)??

Thanks!

wow.. i did raise it to 60 and 120.
im not sure if this was an indirect or direct cause, but my internet slowed down from 1.5mbit to 77kbs up and down.
..

but i changed it back to 10/20 and rebooted, im back near 1.5mbit.

eh..

Please read:

MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server & MaxConnectionsPerServer - HTTP specification requires that no one computer can have more than 2 simultaneous connections to any single HTTP server. This will affect all Windows application that uses the standard API, including Internet Explorer. People who keep multiple files on an online hard drive hate this restriction, because they can only download two or four files at a time. Windows developers choose to limit the maximum connections to a HTTP 1.0 server to four. In the HTTP 1.1 specification the number of connections was mandated to 2.

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Default: 4, 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you download a lot of things at once, you should change the value.....

20/10 is a good setting.

This doesn't slow your internet down, it lets you download more things at once.

That may be why you got a slow reading.

I suggest you mess around with it and see what you like best. :D

Hope that helps.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone should make a forumula or something, it would really help...

Hmm, I think I just thought of a forumula, but I could be wrong..

So, correct me if I am wrong, please. :D

Here it is:

Speedguide.net has about 49 url(s), now go to all your most common websites you visit and count how many objects(URLS) it has in the site(s).

Forumula:

49+54+24+30+12/5=33.8 (Rounded to 39)

I think that's correct..... :D

Note if you increase the number of simultaneous connections much, you also increase your chance of seeing incomplete pages... In my experience, much more than 20 starts to create more problems than it's worth.

Just my opinion.
