When did Saturday Night Live start to suck?

Post by Izzo »

..Haven't really watched it in a long time ... last time I really did is about when Sandler, Farley, Spade and that crew were on .. seems like a sorry shell of what it used to be.....i've heard this before but I thought the guys I mentioned were pretty cool.

To steal a joke from them...

SNL is one big rollercoaster.

It can be really funny at times, and then it begins to suck out of nowhere.

It's comedy gold one minute, and pure sludge the next.

There are talented cast members, and then there are completely talentless ones.

And that's all before the first commercial break. :p

Honestly, I think people have said the same thing about virtually all of the major cast changes since the show began.

right ..but this group seems especially bad ... maybe i just havent given them time but it seemed like Tom Brady did a better job than the crew ( i'm sure this was a rerun?)

I haven't watched the show too much in the past couple years, so I can't really state my position. That being said, from the bits and pieces I have seen, I'm inclined to believe you (with a few exceptions, such as Darrell Hammond and Rachel Dratch).

Some of the replays on Comedy Central are pretty good. Of the old shows.
Respect it.

it really sucked in the early-mid 90's...then got a little better in the late 90's and early 00's...then a few people left to star in movies and it sucked again. it has a few funny moments...but they are few in far between.

It's just terrible now ... I mean Brady did a better job than most of the cast i've seen lately...like the comedy is being forced rather than ...i dunno i guess hard to explain.

After the early 90's that show was dry, man was it dry. I relate it to the shift in humor in todays world. Most of what todays young people find funny is too dirty for TV.

The creativity/originality is squashed. No major stations are gonna take a chance with crossing that line. So we get the same old boring and predictable garbage. I like the stations that have a little more even if they cost a couple dollars a month. Little house on the Prairie is OVER PEOPLE! Get over it! :D

The FCC may have more to do with this than the actual content creators...

Ya, I know, Bastards. Heaven forbid we actually partake in watching an adult show broadcast to the masses. Kids hear worse in the school yard.

Piss off, you cling to it like a favorite blanket. You call out anything disgraceful, yet the networks are supposed to come up with on the edge shows. Please. :p
