Looking for 19" flat panel

Post by shadrach »

I've been looking at this Samsung Syncmaster 912N to replace my ancient Sony Trinitron Multisync 17sf CRT (nice monitor, but it's got a dead pixel, a dim row, and it's huge).

The only drawback I can see on the Samsung is it's 25ms response rate. I'm not a heavier gamer, in fact the xbox has taken over game duty almost completely. Although I haven't played BF in months and haven't even tried Doom3 on my Ti4200, I seem to go through fazes, so I'd bet I might get into some PC game again in the future.

Would that display be okay for gaming (minimal to no ghosting on say, Doom3?). 95% of my usage right now is work/browsing/image editing, etc. I never watch DVD movies on the computer either.
Intel P4 2.8 800FSB / Asus P4P800SE / Corsair 1024MB PC3200 / Antec Sonata / TruePower 380w
Asus GeForce4 Ti4200 / Seagate 200GB SATA / WD 200GB IDE / LiteOn 4x DVD-RW / Windows XP Pro SP2

Shouldn't be a major issue. It will ghost compared to a CRT, just not heavily. Samsung makes a good FPD.

Samsung hasn't been all too strong in the fast gaming LCD area, might want to look towards a Viewsonic.
