Very cool pics! Thanks for sharing! :thumb:

Gorgeous sand on that beach, gotta love the desolate beaches, eh?

I was in Eleuthera, one of the lesser known and traveled Bahamian islands....really loved that place. Quiet, not many tourists.

They are the Abaco Islands. They are the (outter) barrier Islands to Grande Bahama Island and I forget the name of the other large bahamian Island. But if you look at a map and you see the tiny little specs just off the coast of the large Islands - that's them - the Abacos.
.............one of these days I will figure it all out.

Hey, Red X's! Where are the pics?

Did you guys get by the Green Turtle Yacht Club in the Abacos? http://www.greenturtleclub.com/YachtClub.html (Do a search for the "I B Smokin'" ... ;) ) That damn rum is going to be the death of us yet! :D http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:hKvJxfF2hs4J:www.greenturtleclub.com/newsletterJune.html+I+B+Smokin%27&hl=en This was from the year 2000... We didn't make the tourney this year... :(

That is our boats port every year from March til July, then to Key West, The A&B Marina, from July to Sept. http://www.clydeskeywest.com/Marinas-Sub-01/florida_keys_marinas_smak103.htm Then it is back to Clearwater, Sept to March...
The season is just about over as the boat will be coming home for winter, next weekend... :( Oh well, as always, it has been great! :)

Post the pics!!!! :D

Yeah, I can see them now! Thanks! :)

Hmmm, a boat with-out out-riggers... How can you catch marlin? :D

Just kidding! Nice boat!

Did they travel from San Fran with it? If so, Kudos & Mad Props! Did they go through the Panama Canal? (Of course they did, if they came from SF...) How much fuel can their vessel hold? Where did they get fuel? They have big balls if they made that trip, and 1 hellofa fuel tank!

I know it is rough on us just coming from Tampa. We save fuel if we cut across the state by cutting through Fort Myers and go through the locks on the Okeechobee waterway, coming out in Stuart. Still, crossing the Gulf Stream can be super dangerous! ;) You can leave the East coast of Florida, blue skies and glass, get about 30 miles and all of hell break loose! Not only will 20 foot waves beat the crap out of you, they will make you mess your pants! :o :D

That way is closer than going around Key West, then up and over, however, they both take about the same amount of time as the locks on the Lake Ocheechobee can take a while, no wake, etc...

We burn about 1 gal of diesel per mile, running twin turbo diesels, hopped up a bit... ;) :D ( 46' Ocean Sportfish)

What are the specs on their boat?

Ok, I see that the pontoon is registered in Virginia... If you guys have the pontoon as your lifeboat, like we do (13' Zodiak) then that would make sense... ;) (Your parents live in VA and you & LilTechGirl flew in from SF...) They made the trip from VA with the boat. Still a very gutsy trip! Hats off to Mom & Pop! :)

[quote="Ken"]Ok, I see that the pontoon is registered in Virginia... I moved out here last year when my company relocated me...and I brought the techGirl with me :)

Funny enough, though, they are here this week visiting me. Let me tell ya - a loft is no living space to have your folks as houseguests - only room you have privacy is the bathroom :)

They have more pix of the Bahamas (and other spots) - http://moonriveriii.com/gallery/

Don't laugh at the site - it was my first try at design - I am a systems engineer, not a graphical/presentation layer guy...

[quote="Ken"]PS, I am guessing Guana Cay or Treasure Cay... ] Right on all counts - see the above link.

It's a 54ft Ocean Alexander - custom built (pops helped with the plans) trawler

BTW - they are originally from Va Beach - boat people to the core.

EDIT: They are retired and live on that boat. I forget the term for it, but they float around the hurricane season. They plan on being in Key West for xmas and then to the Bahamas thru May or June, depending on the weather.

Hey skye,
We are bound to run into your parents sooner or later as they are playing in our playground. ;) We will keep a watch out for the MR111. That would be really cool! :)
More to come later! Gotta run.
