Bachelor Living thread

Post by ghost »

There are many of us guys who live alone, myself included, and every once in a while I catch myself doing things that only a bachelor would do. So, I'm going to make a list of these behaviors as they become recognized. Feel free to pitch in your own as well.

Image

For example, instead of loading the dishwasher like a normal person, my sink becomes the dirty dish repository until:

A. I run out of clean dishes, or
B. The pile gets too high and I run out of counter space as well.

So I load up the dishwasher with all my dirty dishes, being very creative in dish and glass placement so they'll all fit in one load, then after they're clean I don't unload the dishwasher (like a normal person)...it becomes my Clean Dish Distibution Center. As I need a clean dish I remove it from the dishwasher. After use, it goes into the sink and the cycle is repeated.

This same behavior is repeated in the laundry room with clothes as well. Sad.

We had four bachelors sharing a home one time. Names became confusing especially when more than one friend was visiting. To relieve this if you were a male your new name was ****.

Hi ****

What's going on ****

Not much just waiting on **** so he could drive me to the store for some beer. :thumb:

My place is spotless 24/7. The instant a sock hits the floor, I put it in the hamper. When a dish gets used, it goes into the washer.

Hi ghost

Being single myself i have lots of Bachelor Quirks :D

Eating out of the Pot you cooked in to save dirtying a Plate.

Doing laundry and after drying setting the clothes on top of the dryer rather than putting them away in drawers and dressing from the top of the dryer.

Doing sheets and when done too lazy to put them back on the mattress so you sleep without sheets for a day or two.

When the Dishcloth in the kitchen sink starts to smell and its time to wash it and the drying towel, throwing the wet cloth on the floor and running it around with your foot and doing the same with the drying towel rather than getting out the Mop.

Sitting in your underwear at the Comp., not even bothering with shorts cause no one else is their to bitch.

Having 4 glasses scattered about the room for the various drinks you have. Me Water, Diet Pepsi & Cranberry Juice all on the go at onetime.

Using the Egg timer when you want to catch an hours lay down, rather than setting the Alarm Clock.

Its Sad Really  :rotfl:

Here's another one.

The kitchen trash can is full, and has been for days. But wait, what's this? An empty coffee can? Instant trash can and right on the counter! Plus a snap-tight lid!

whats underwear? just another piece of clothing that u have to put on. if ur stayin home its not worth it, unless u have a leather chair, then ur butt sticks to it so u need underwear then.

I have macaroni and cheese down to a science. One pot, one spoon.

Clothes get the "sniff" check. If its stinky, it goes back on the floor, if it smells good, it goes on me. I'll just say that my "outfits" are rather interesting.

Same here!!!

Regarding laundry... I'll hang my shirts, jeans, dockers, ect but when it comes to the whites, and towels..I'll take them out of the dryer but I'll just dump them in a laundry basket. Wont bother folding them, ect. Just dont see a reason, LOL.

I dont eat over a sink, but lets just say a lot of paper plates are involved :D

i keep my clean laundry in the dryer untill i need to wear something, the dirty stuff goes straight into the washer.
i love paper plates as well.
i drink milk out of the container so as not to dirty a glass.
i eat dinner on a TV tray usually.
i rarely put the TP on the dispenser.
i only shave twice a week, takes too much effort and know one to impress.
and i'm sure there are other things that would make normal people thing that i am weird :)

When I'm at her house I'm a clean freak, it's weird. I'll scrub her kitchen and do none of the things I do when I'm alone. It's automatic too, I don't even think about it I just do it.

Occasionally she'll catch me doing something and make a "bachelor" comment, or say something like, "You're such a GUY." Yep!

I dont remember the last time my kitchen table was used for eating, it is next to the dryer, and is always covered with folded clothes. And i too have done all the laundry tricks, triple drying, and lets not forget double washing cause you forgot to put them in the dryer and they sat and spoiled over night!

I'll tell you why....because women have a mean streak a mile wide and longer than science can determine. We do the nicey-nice stuff to avoid that wrath. Step into "no-man's land" and woe unto yer soul. Ya said "I don't even think about it". Let's examine that comment shall we?

No thinking:Programmed response.
Sever deviation from normal practices: Deep rooted psychological aversion to negative stimulus.

Hmmm, brainwashing at it's finest :D

No worries, I'm that way too.

Huh, maybe in YOUR case this is true. :D

For me, I just want to help out. She cooks my dinner, I clean up. She does something nice for me and I return the favor. Pretty soon there are favors flyin' around everywhere and we're both happy because of it. :)

Sometimes I do stuff for her and don't even tell her about it.
