Post by kmax »

okay, so my dad's hp pavilion ze4200 most definately has a dead hard drive. i would replace it, but i relize that all of my experience is with desktops. are laptop hard drives also standard meaning i could get a seagate despite him running on a toshiba right now? i would like to know soon because he is breathing down my neck to get this problem fixed. Thanks for the help :)

yes, laptop hd's do follow a standard. I've worked on 4 laptops thus far and I think it's easier to work on laptops then desktops.

Often times the end pins MIGHT look different. sometimes adapters are put over the standard pins. This wont be ap roblem because you can use the adapter from the old hard drive for the new one.

hitach 40gig 5400rpm are very affordable and will provide for a nice lil improvement over the standard HD as well.
