So I need an MP3/Media Machine
So I'm looking to build an MP3 box to set out with my stereo system.
What kind of configs are you guys using? OS, hardware, setusp, etc.. I'm looking for something small. I'd rather not put a full blown system out there since its just for music.
I'm looking at the mini-ITX systems. Particularly http://www.caseoutlet.com/NWPc/Mini-Che ... /c136.html . Seems to be nice & small. I'll be matching this up with a usb Wifi-G adaptor.
Also, if you guys know of places to get good deals on parts, let me know. I know newegg.com has good deals and they're reliable.

Two words: Hacked XBox
I freaking LOVE my setup; chipped xBox running Xbox Media Player and connected to my home network. I have my entire CD collection ripped to LAME VBR MP3 files and stored on my server, running the Relax file streaming software.
With the XBox hooked up to my home entertainment center I can access all the media files on my computer: audio, video, pictures. I don't even play games with the thing, it's strictly a XMP launcher

If you buy a small case, you can pick up an EPIA combo for under 100 dollars, with HD etc, you can do very well!
Where?!?! That would be an excellent deal.

Here's info on the XMP software: http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/
All you need is a standard XBox, but depending on your electronics skills you may need to find someone local to install a modchip for it. Once it's chipped, you can download and configure all sorts of software like custom dashboards, media players, emulators, etc. If you want to go WiFi, Netgear and other similar companies make WiFi kits for game consoles. I'm using the 100Mbps connection, so I don't know now well DVD movies would stream over an 802.11 format, but compressed audio files should work find over A/B standards.

Thanks for the info. I'll likely do this instead since its a cheaper alternative.

Yeah I think I can spot a boost gauge of any sort a mile away.
Nice car. The name sounds really familiar, but I can't place it.
Hopefully I get to go to the Shootout this year.
my car
I've only had it a few months and its been too cold for me to feel like messing with it. Can't wait for spring time.
