Nevermind
after building a bunch of computer and configing them for other people its time to make me one. I have not used a pentium processor since my p2 400. I currently run a 1800+ with a crappy gforce2 card, and a soltek SL-75Frv something I cant remeber but hey its purple and i am a girl. It got 512 of ddr2100 in it now. I have no complaints. I dont understand the 3000+amd only having a 2.6 or something operating frequency, it seems the p4 3.06 is a better buy. However I truely like amd. Someone make my mind up
I am awesome.
Re: I am now confused
Anna, the AMD cpu's out there now are using the performance rating number, like the old cyrix used to. This means an Athlon XP 2200 is rated at 2200mhz, but actually runs at a lower speed (does that make sense)? The intel chips are still strictly by mhz if im not mistaken. I have been an AMD guy for awhile, last intel product I bought was the celeron 300a
The AMD cpu's are really good for gaming, beating most of the intel cpu's horribly at a much lower mhz. Theres always a debate on which is better, and the truth is there really isnt a better one. I consider it preference nowadays
AMD has been nicely overclockable, stable, and cheaper from my experience.

You could have probably saved yourself a few bucks getting the 2500+ barton and OCing. I don't know if you're confortable with OCing, though.
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.6GHz on Water | 8GB DDR2 | 2x 74GB Raptor RAID0 | 250GB Storage | P5E | 2900XT @ 850 Core | DVD-RW | 2x 24" Widescreen LCD | Saitek Eclipse | Logitech G5
Nothin wrong with the P4's.
The best value and performance is to get a 2.4C and OC it to 3GHz with a 1GHz FSB and DC DDR 400. Offers increadible memory bandwidth with a very fast core MHz speed on the P4C. Very fast, stable and has that Intel robustness.
That is my recommendation for the system.
I just answered your PM On the video card. I see above you have chosen the 9700Pro that is also a GOOD deal. Faster than the 9600Pro you were going to get. It is a good solid option. Overclock it some too if you want

added 500 watt power supply putting the 400 with the 1800+ I currently have because mine is dying. Added I believe a thermaltake volcano 12 may not be volcano. I am kinda of concerned about setting the temps myself but whats more research, added the artic silver because I am out. So I think I am a little over 600 dollars now
I am awesome.

LOL, that's exactly what I did. ^^^
Let us know how the buildup goes, Annalysa, yours sounds like a killer system.
Waiting for CPU parts is torture! I know the feeling.

Video card locks in ET or makes pretty little colored boxes all over the screen. Then the computer monitor would shut off when you use the updated drivers at that is doing anything. Looking at webpages anyhting the monitor turns off. I am gonna put it in bf computer and see how it acts there then I am shipping back
I am awesome.
