Head unit problems...

Post by Brk »

Ok, so I have a new Alpine CDA-9807 CD player for my car. My brother and I hooked it up, matched all the wires and whatnot, wired it through the Scosche OEM integrator thing (I have to have it since I have a Bose stereo) but it will not play CDs.

The radio works fine, sound is loud and clear and all the settings/adjustments/etc. work. However, if I put a CD in (either CD-DA or MP3), the display shows it as playing (i.e., track time elapses, etc.) but there is no sound. I've already checked the wires and everything is where it's supposed to be. I've gone through every setting and nothing. I even reset the unit to factory defaults, nothing.

I am confounded...do I just have a bum player?

careful...muchos pop ups

Went up a bit in that forum and found this:

Q: I just installed my new HU. When turned on, the radio plays fine, but when I put a CD in, it shows its playing but I get no sound. Any suggestions?
A: Connect the remote turn on (blue/white) wire on the back of the HU to the power antenna (blue) wire on the stock harness. this should take care of the problem.

Could be it...I swear I checked that like 50 times. :( Something to do tomorrow I guess...

Thanks.

Try this:

Use the remote if you have one?

Did it rain hard within the last day or so? If so let it dry

remove the face if u can and wipe or blow where the face connects to the black part that might help

AFAIU(nderstood) the first link that Humboldt posted, the amp is usually connected to the antenna remote through that converter. That's fine for radio, since then the antenna is powered, but when in cd mode the antenna remote is not powered... and hence the amp has no juice.?!? Makes sense to me...

Do you have a automatic antenna?
Sometimes people will wire the cd by accident to the automatic antenna and in turn making the cd player not work.
I have made that mistake in the past!
I hope you didnt and i hope this helps!
