I have an SMC wireless [barricade] router, model number -- smc7004vwbr..
I have my laptop on the wireless connection and my 2 PCs on the wires. Up until recently i have had no interest in messing around with my router up until i wanted to host a Counter-Strike server off of it.
Now i know im supposed to go through the Admin Page, and i have seen them before, but on my other router. for some reason i have to actually install some weird program on my PC... But everytime i install it it completely disrupts and ruins the whole network, forcing me to press the reset button which fixes everything. I am guessing the ONLY way to access it is by installing that crappy software.... but there HAS to be another way! i need to open up some ports because thats the only way it can send out outbound UDPs. my old Seimens router, which unfortunately burned out for some absurd reason had the EASY and SENSIBLE way of accessing the admin page by just typing in a simple address in the Internet Explorer address bar (192.168.254.254). I have searched and searched all over the SMC website and all over the internet till i came up here and im hoping you can help me out.
Dont get me wrong, the router is ABSOLUTELY fantastic, but the stupid firmware, or hardware upgrade or software or whatever the heck that thing on the CD is keeps messing up my network and i refuse to use it. HELP ME plz!
ty in advanced.
