Instead, they have like an external modular Floppy Driver.......the Dell guy on the phone was trying to explain to me what is.....

Can anyone explain in more detail to me what it is.....

It's an external floppy drive that connects via USB.

It's an external drive that you just plug in when you want to use it. Probably a USB drive.

thats what I asked, if its just a USB hook up......

stupid person, heh

but anyway, it looks a little inconvenient compared to the other "normal" laptops witha built in floppy.........is it inconvenient, or am I being ignorant?

Do you use floppies often? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it.

depends on your needs, if you are gonna be using floppy disks more then cd's then it would be annoying, but it all depends on what you are doing and need

ya, thats true

I usually just e-mail myself my reports........

It costs $30 to buy.....but I'll get it, but ya, I doubt I'll use it much when I think about it.....

Some do, but the thinner ones have external or modular internal drives.

i never got a floppy with my dell laptop
what do you need one for?

On my p3 866 last time I used my floppy was like 3 years ago

I think dell lappy comes with those 64mb key chain thingy for u..

Unless you need to backup documents for transport or the like, a floppy isn't necessary...especially if you get a CD-RW drive.
