can connect to sites but cannot ping them?

Something very odd. It seems I can connect to sites but cannot ping them. What does this mean?

Some sites or all sites? If it's some sites, then those sites probably block ping/echo requests.

Not all sites and not all the time. Like just now..I'm browsing speedguide and decide to ping it. Ping goes through just fine...browse one page over...decide to ping speedguide again...all requests time out. So these sites definitely accept pings.

I'm operating through a Linksys router as well.

The router won't block pings outbound. Any other software firewalls you're running in addition to the router?

Negative...no other firewalls, unless Windows sets one up running default that I don't know about.
