Hell, I've been getting the constant cable light activity since Friday evening. Now today, I get a system generated email from RoadRunner security (TampaBay) stating if I run Win2K or NT (I run Win2K Pro w/SP2 but NO IIS) I need to go to MS and download their patch and reboot. No mention that if I'm ...

Andrew, normally I'd agree with you 100% however this only began happening since I've begun using STR. I've had the Linksys since they first came out (over a year ago) and this just started happening about the time I started using STR. Could be a coincidence I guess.....shrugs shoulders.

Linksys router, suspend to ram, win2k and IP

If anyone has experienced this I'll be fairly surprised but here goes:

I have the BEFSR41 w/1.37 firmware. Running Win2K Pro w/SP1, Linksys LNE 10/100 Rev 2 nic. I have fallen IN LOVE with suspend to ram. When puter goes into standby it shuts off EVERYTHING, fans (including CPU fan) hd's, pwr ...

BlueJetta,

Thanks for the "testmyspeed" link. That's one of the more useful things I've ever seen here (didn't know about that one).

Linksys router and ICQ 2000

I can send and receive ICQ messages but cannot initiate or recieve file transfers on ICQ2000 while behind the Linksys router. Under ICQ99B I knew how to configure the firewall settings to fix it but they've totally revamped the firewall settings on ICQ2000. Anyone know how to configure it for this ...

>>>So it's impossible to enable file sharing between your home network without leaving
your Linksys open to hackers? <<<

Absolutely not. The best method is to leave TCP/IP as your internet connection and use NETBUI for the file sharing protocol. It is imperative that TCP/IP be unbound from NETBUI ...

I installed Win2K pro back in Feb while the puter was already connected to the Linksys. Haven't had a lick of trouble worth mentioning since then.

In my experience the patches here at Speedguide work great for Tampa RR, at least on the original Win98. Can't speak for SE or ME. With Win2K they dont seem to make much of a diff for me.

The Tampa area has become fairly saturated with RR installs. Dunno how many people you have on your particular ...

Well, so far so good. I didn't use any filter. No drop off in download speeds that I can tell. But damn it, this might be too convenient having TV on the ol' monitor :)

Hauppauge WinTV with DBX stereo and FM Stereo.

Thanks all. I have a filter, I'll give it a try, I can always remove it if it causes trouble.

Can I split my RR coax to hook up TV tuner?

I'm using RoadRunner. After the coax comes into the house it is split with one feed going to several rooms for cable tv and one specifically for RR going to my computer. I'd like to install a TV tuner card in my pc but if I use the cable tv coax feed I'll have to route a coax around a door frame and ...

This may or may not help you, it's something I picked up at a forum discussion on the Linksys at AnandTech. Say you have 3 puters running thru the Linksys, with IP's of 192.168.1.100, 101 and 102 (still DHCP enabled). Assign a arbitrary IP to the DMZ, such as 192.168.1.119. Any ports that need ...

I got my Linksys box today. It set up just fine and dandy (4 puters sharing RoadRunner). The only thing out of the ordinary I had to do was ping my incoming and outgoing mail servers and assign the IP's instead of the servers names. I upgraded the firmware too, did the quick setup without installing ...

There are Win2K specific ATA66 drivers available at highpoint-tech.com. They make the ATA66's on Abit's mobos. I'm using them on Win2K on a BE6 myself.

Hey Philip,

I've used your MTU patches etc ever since I started using RoadRunner (Oct 97) and I can't tell any differences since installing the MS patch. Your generic Win98 cable modem patches were already in my registry though.
