Vintage 10 Speed Bike

I got this bike tuned up today. I now have about $200 into it. It's quite a nice bike to ride.
It has new tires, shift cables, and brake pads.
They gave me some flack at the bike shop about buying 2 vintage girl's bikes, bc I'm a male.
I was a bit shocked they had such hang ups about it.
He said he'd never be seen riding a girl's bike, but the thought never crossed my mind.
I enjoy this bike and I'm going to ride it.
This is a lovely Sears Roebuck Free Spirit 10 speed from the 70s or 80s.
There aren't a lot of people where I ride anyway, and I don't honestly care if people notice me riding a girl's bike.
Should it matter to me?
I prefer their bike shop because they're older guys and have more experience with vintage bikes.
