Take it from a man that has family from West Virginia... Dont mess with bloodlines. You get ****ed up kids with 13 toes and the love of sheep balls.

I think you may be on something here

Believe it or not, most states allow marriages between first cousins and I believe all do, between 2ond cousins....
The thought is, the genetic differences are great enough that there shouldn't be any problems.
In a very small community that hasn't had any mingling of their gene pool, is another story.
Other than that.......it's a Brent type of thread, no? Possibly a Freudian slip?

depends on the situation i suppose... if you were raised with this person as being your sibling, then imo, no. because it raises mental and moral questions...
if one of your parents just got with the parent of this step, then i think all is fair... but is still considered weird territory...

Chlorination of the gene pool is considered a good thing.
Or are us northerners a minority in this belief?

I don't think any rules or laws should exist forbidding the union of sibling/cousin couples at all.

Interesting standpoint, Brent. Care to expand on that belief?

Sometimes there really is true love between siblings, or cousins, or whatever, why should our legal system say that should be illegal? doesn't make sense
this also goes for age, shouldn't be any laws on marriage or sex concerning age

Brent...again, in most states, 1st cousins CAN marry.

I believe in Texas it is outlawed as of this year. It's a growing trend. Our civil liberties are going away.

You're correct that sometimes there is really true love between siblings/cousins/etc. But does that really mean that they should be allowed to marry? Justify your stance
legally, Brent.. why should there not be a law in place to prevent marriage between relatives? Everything related to
love could be done without marriage, such as homosexual couples or polyamorus circles have been forced to do for centuries in this country.
As for age: What system would you put in place to keep younger people from being manipulated or coerced into sex? How would you differentiate between uninformed non-consent, and rape? How would you define 'consentual' and 'unconsentual' sex, in cases of younger people?
When you make these statements.. justify them.

It was really never a civil liberty in the first place. I want my civil liberty of "stabbing people in the face" back...oh wait, never was one.
Breeding within one generation is asking for all sorts of genetic weirdness, get far back enough in the sticks around here and you can find the folks that have that lovin feeling for close relatives and the offspring is....different.
Think of it like DUI/DWI laws. MOST people have enough grey matter to know that driving around in a 5000 pound auto while drunk is a bad idea, and don't do so. It's that small percentage of people that just don't care or don't think thru the consequences that create the need for laws. Bit of a stretch true, but creating kids with severe mental deficiences, bizarre genetic mutations etc is a burden on society.

I do believe that falls within the guidelines of asking the members to not troll....
