What's the advantage of that over a regular air filter? K&N's are like $50

what mazda do you have?

95 Protege. K&N air filters have better airflow than most paper filters and can be cleaned instead of constantly changing them which is the main reason I wanted it. Its debateable on if it gives you any kind of performance gain though, what maybe 1hp at most? :) Oil filters important because you dont want the thing falling apart (FRAM!?!?)

i think i remember someone on here saying there is really no performance increase on a stock intake.

Yea, some will say you might be able to dyno out an extra horsepower, but I think it all depends on the car. It does provide better airflow though.

Yeah, K&N's never need to be replaced (1 Million mile guarantee), just cleaned every 50K miles. Before my intake, it's what I used, and you do get better airflow and slight gain in fuel economy. I've used it on every car I've ever owned....currently have a K&N cone on my intake, love it, loud as hell!! :D

I can see an advantage maybe on the air filter, but
I was gonna ask that about the oil filter! how can that be "preformance" ?

in all my years,I've never seen any brand of oil filter "fall apart" , but whatever floats you're boat. :)

LOL ya thats K&N's site, no biggy,I'm sure it's a great filter,I used to run k&n's in my harley.

ya still need to change a oil filter every 3k miles anyway! (IMO)

I'm not trying to be the devils advocate,(or maybe I am !LOL*

I would rather see some "splitfire" plugs in there or whatever.,for the extra money. :)

LMAO, I bet that Brent may have a plug or 2 for her! :rotfl:

Altimas run best on NGK plugs, so I'll stick with those till I get another car and try out those splitfires.

Depends on your driving conditions, website recommends every 50K miles. I cleaned it every oil change, but thats only cause I am neurotic, lol

I dont remember saying it was performance, oh wait I didnt. When I said fall apart people have had the internal structure of FRAM's deposit crap into the engine, or basically fail. I would have thought "in all your years" you would know that.

ok with all you're sarcasm aside, :p

I did'nt say YOU said performance,I was just going off of what the f****** thing says on the box. LOL

and you did say "thing falling apart",and again I will say that I've never seen a oil filter fall apart. :)

and all I meant in "all my years" was that I have been driving some good cars, and some POS cars ,for a long time.

I'm sure the k&n oil filter is very good and it's a good thing.

relax

I was running an NGK plug, worked great. I am giving Bosch a shot, I have heard mixed results, I will give them a whirl though...

Autolite's for the Regal. The colder range (104's) help fight detonation from the added boost :D
