:D I've got to get my .02 in on this one

Tigerdirect
Most of my computer came from here, no problems. One warning...They put large writing on their packages (for UPS this spells mangled, big time). Even with the expected mangling (more than usual???), not a single damaged (the motherboard for my computer came in a box with distinct fork marks (forklift type) through one side, the contents were undamaged).

no negs yet, I've got what I need (so far)

[edit]Add http://www.laptopsetc.com to the list of worthwhile places
needed a zip drive for this Dell Latitude that I just got, the part arrived almost before the payment cleared...cool

Try not to buy from Lynn Computer Products.

Here's a couple links summarizing my troubles with that vendor with poor sales practices.

You guys can make up your mind whether or not to do business with them.

http://www.buyaib.com and http://www.dccsales.com are the same company and so is http://www.stlpcsales.com you can just take a look at their websites to realize this since they're almost Exactly the same too.

If you ever really need to know how good a business is then look it up under resellerratings.com

All of those companies could not get a score above a 3, when 5 is considered a bad business.

For buyaib the BBB has to say this:
http://www.labbb.org/scripts/cgiip.exe/ ... &hAddrID=2

Good luck doing good business with them, we certainly dont consider it good business when they send us an empty box and try to rip us and others off.

This is so true- I have seen some comment on the high shipping, but alot of times they have FREE or .99 FedEx Saver Shipping (three days or less to NC from CA).

I've ordered THOUSANDS of dollars worth of products from them for building custom systems for various people/buisnesses and have yet to have an order that has not arrived three days or less after I clicked "Checkout", nor have I had any damaged/RMAed products.

NewEgg rocks, and I do wonder how they got so big and also wonder when they are going to go public :thumb:

Crap ... I just put an order through on the 12th too :(

It hasn't even shipped until yesterday, and I only have one tracking # saying a 6 lb package was sent. Hmm let's see, I ordered a case, a hard drive, and a video card ... I'm sure that's more than 6 pounds. I'm going to try calling today to see if I can get the other tracking #s out of them

BAD: ComputerGeeks, do not buy from..

Post by Shinobi »

Word to the wise, don't buy from this company..

http://www.geeks.com/
Computer Geeks

They ussually sell old "closeout" stuff.. which you think would be good.
However.. it is common practice to sell broken "refurb" stuff..
and another trick, destroying the hardware's serial number.

Late shippment is a common factor as well.

NEVER BUY FROM DELL!

Their customer service is the worst I have ever received. Their system is built to piss people off and have probably cost buyers many additional charges if they tried to return a deffective product.

http://www.newegg.com -- :thumb: I did have a bad experience with them last year when I tried building a PC for a family member. The bad experience was with DOA parts, not customer service so don't misunderstand. I just built a new PC within the last month using mostly newegg parts and everything worked great. Fast shipping as usual.

http://www.compuplus.com -- :( I bought an ATI AIW X600pro video card from them and shipping took a week to get it here. Price wasn't that great either, but was within $10 of newegg. However, the reason why I bought it from them was because they had it in-stock and newegg didn't. Long story short, I should have just forgotten about the AIW altogether because it wouldn't work with my system. For some reason I couldn't load the ATI multimedia center to watch TV programs on my PC, nor could I run any of the ATI diagnostic programs. Comp-u-plus wasn't any help. They don't have tech support (they refer you to the mfgr), and their customer service line is busy 99% of the time. ATI's tech support wasn't that great either since they couldn't resolve my issue after 7 days of trying different things. I did get an RMA return for a refund by comp-u-plus, but they didn't credit me with the refund amount for over a week after they received the defective unit back. Beware they don't refund ANY shipping costs and you get charged a 10% restocking fee if the item is not received back within 7 days of filing an RMA.

Everything for the last 3 computers I have built came from them - Freaking speedy S&H too. I haven't had to experiance their customer support because I haven't had any problems with what they sent me.

When shopping from them, one thing you want to look out for is rebates. You can save $100s of dollars from rebates over there. I like it.

Highly recommended!

:D

I'd have to say I agree with you on that 100% here..

I only had one problem with them but I never took it to techsupport and that was that I had ordered a HDD from them and when I came home from work one day my roommate told me... "Ohh your HDD is on your desk it arrived this morning" so I went to get it all excited and found ummm A hard drive on my desk... no box no manuals no cords no nothing else.. so I go back and I'm like uhhh where's the box...... he goes... "what box..." I'm like duh the one that it came in.... and his responce is ohh its over there... I look there's a brown box no shipping label or anything... I'm like okayyyy where's the outter box... he's like no outerbox thats it... thats what it came in... so I'm like right well whatever... set it up in my computer and after about 2 weeks it started making this uber cool clicking noise then failed all together never to work again... needless to say... I figured my roommate messed it up and decided human error nothing more to be done about it and didn't even bother to call tech on that...

But all in all I'd say the 5 or so purchases I made from them showed up when I was expecting them didn't cost me too much and with the exception of that package, always arrived in working order and so far are still working...

No longer buying from zipzoomfly

I entered my billing address and clicked the box that said 'make your shipping address the same as your billing address'. I cliked continue and placed my order. It didn't tell me until after the order that it was shipping it to another addy it had on file. I immediately emailed them saying their system fubared and to change the shipping address to my billing addy and they said they would charge me a reshipping fee to change it's destination.

Their screwup and they wanted me to pay to fix it, sticking to newegg's customer service from here on out.

More drama trying to resolve a situation with zipzoomfly. They will not respond to my emails or to requests made through their website.

I just noticed at reseller rating that their old rating was 9+ but their 6 month rating 6.44 and dropping.

At this point, everyone should know that Monarchcomputing is no longer a place to make purchases.

Quite sad, they used to provide excellent service.

Awesome place for coaxial cables (hope it's not out of topic) but they are 4.5ghz, my picture improved by 25% (more crispy compared to RG6 2.1ghz) :thumb:

Fast shipping, easy communication, highly recommended.

I like amamax too. I have ordered a few times from them with no problems. I'm not sure about how responsive their customer service is either but the fact I did not have to contact them for anything keeps me ordering from there.

I also found a good place for computer memory upgrades at http://parts-quick.com the price was really good compared to some other sites so I was skeptical about the quality of the memory but everything was just as it said it was so I went ahead and upgraded my other two machines with a second order. so far so good.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Ewiz. Prices are definately as competitive as newegg and zipzoomfly. Newegg has been really slacking on getting the item out in a timely manner. ZZF's customer service has never impressed me.

I don't know about ewiz's customer service but I placed an order today at 5pm and din't expect it to go out today, but it did.

So +1 for ewiz.

Hrm, gonna get to see how good ewiz's customer service is after all. The motherboard I bought was DOA.

Asking to get a refund and at the same time I'd order a different motherboard from them. Just asked for free shipping on the new one to counter balance the cost I will pay to ship the broken one back.

Very fair, interested to see if they screw me over or not.

I know its been mentioned a hundred times before but...

http://www.newegg.com!

Every part I have used to build and upgrade my two computers were purchased through newegg. They have the best prices. I have never had to RMA anything. Processing and shipping has always been quicker than they advertise. I ordered 2 gigs of RAM earlier this week on MLK Jr Day, and it showed up on Thursday. I can't speak for their customer service department because I've never had to use them!

Just checked my account on there, $2500+ in 6 orders, no problems, always arrived early. Gotta love them.

I would like to add http://www.frozencpu.com/

It’s an awesome place for case modders, they have tons of stuff. I’ve never returned anything but I called once and they handled the question quick.
