maybe we are just examining this issue a little too deeply, it's giving me a headache

to err is human

I do err, i aint perfect, forgive me, I will refrain from posting that pic ever again on this forum, I am sorry, it was over the line, at the time it was how i felt and i let my emotions get the best of it, but If my emotions NEVER ever came out like that then I woulnd't be human at all.... our emotions and feelings and personality make us human and how we are, please forgive me I meant no disrespect for anyone, I love the person, but I do hate the lifestyle, my OPINION as it were.....

i do have opinions too, and I do try to stay as objective as I can in my modding, that thread was closed due to the nature of the thread, those kind of threads cannot be allowed...

dude! it's a discussion forum,

thats what it's for,

all these different opinions and emotions are exciting to follow and be part of. atleast for me.

thats what makes us human.

if we all agreed on everything all the time,it would be real boring.

remember the movie "stepford Wives"

kind of one of my alltime favorite "B" movies. :)

you know... if the mods were treated the same as members on SG, most would be banned by now (the mods)

anybody agree?

It's nice to see that Brent admits his mistake and I guess these sorts of problems are inevitable with such a sensitive subject(especially in the U.S.). But I still think mods should refrain from offering their opinions in these highly emotional threads. They should sit back and enjoy the various opinions and moderate when things get out of hand. Some topics you just aren't going to change peoples minds, and while we it is nice to have these debates, we should keep them respectable and not insult each other since the ultimate goal is to have fun here and to achieve a high post count like Prey :D

Ok Phil, heres a quick solution, just get rid of the general forum and force via scripts to make the site as you say discussing technical issues

If you need the coding behind it, my boys can code anything you can dream of

Problem solved plain and simple

They can join in discussions, except in ones that are very sensitive. I'm sure they know which ones those are.

how bout... a system where we vote to close the thread?

say... 15 or so votes win.. and it will be closed... no one would know who voted... so on.. that sounds cool..

unless it's something awful... then mods should close it rite away..

but if it's a matter of opinion.. people should be able to vote for it..

Not to be a thread killer, but you know whats funny? I could have written each one of your replies to this thread because I know all of you so well not to mention that we have been through this before, many, many, times. It's like Deja Vu.

The cold hard facts which may be hard for some to swallow...this is a PRIVATE Forum...Philip could ban any of us for any reason whatsoever, threads could be closed for misspelled words if they chose to do so. There's a million ways that they could treat us here. Do I agree with all of their policies? No. But I haven't gotten so fed up so as to leave. Thats it! There is nothing else to this...like it or leave it. :D

the problem with discussing something such as a gay lifestyle is that the subject is sensitive and still very much controversial.

The problem is that people cannot differenciate an opinion from flame. Attacking someone by calling them derogotory names or advising them of religious reprocussions over their choices in life are wrong and is considered flaming.

On the other hand voicing and opinion on why You don't believe in it, with taking care not to offend anyone directly can be challenging.

We all live very differant lives outside this forum and that is part of what attracts me here, I have a large group of people from differant walks of life to guide me, teach me and be freinds with me.

I have always considered Mike a friend and meant him no harm. When he makes comments about his lifestyle I tend to listen a little more closely, I want to understand.

My opinions are based on what I have learned and believed in my life up until this moment. However each day I wake up, I learn something new which will eventually also affect what I have then learned and believe...

I vote for keeping things the way they are and just keeping the stupid chit out of the forums. We all know what buttons can and can't be pushed. Newbies are one thing (ve have vays of taking care of them) but the people who have been here for a month or so should know the rules well enough to not post some of the stuff that gets posted. I don't think anyone comes here to convert or be converted to any particular sexual preference/religion/general way of thinking. Post opinions, accept that people have different opinions, and be thankful we all don't think like eachother. But for God's sake don't flame someone for their religious beliefs, sexual preferences, the way the look, or what they think. Post that you don't agree and that you have a different opinion, but do it diplomatically. As far as the mods and Phillip go, as long as I don't get banned I think they are doing a good job :D

just because someone is a mod does not mean that they can contain their tempers more so than any of us.

try not to post in threads that you have no opinion or input on.

and above all else, realize that Crazyman IS crazy and there is no changing that :D

And thats all I have to say about that....

And that is what tends to happen, so the threads get closed, edited or deleted dpending on the damage.

So at times I can play no other role then Damage Control...

I think we all learn something each day. The daily lessons we learn go a long way in shaping who we are and what we become in life. Having life experances is what it's all about. Not everyone in this forum has had a lot of life experances. We sometimes for- get the age and or maturity level of all the posters. Some lack the life experance in dealing with homosexuality and other so called "racie" subjects. Please don't missunderstand me I mean no disrespect, it 's just a fact, when you deal with such an broad issue and lack certain life skills sometimes things are said that someone with some more life skills may see differently. Does this make sense? Again please don't get me wrong I mean no direspect to the young crowd. There is a broad age range in here and that's what makes it fun.

It's called Tact :) Something to read about tact

Tact Filters
All people have a "tact filter", which applies tact in one direction to everything that passes through it. Most "normal people" have the tact filter positioned to apply tact in the outgoing direction. Thus whatever normal people say gets the appropriate amount of tact applied to it before they say it. This is because when they were growing up, their parents continually drilled into their heads statements like, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!"

"Nerds," on the other hand, have their tact filter positioned to apply tact in the incoming direction. Thus, whatever anyone says to them gets the appropriate amount of tact added when they hear it. This is because when nerds were growing up, they continually got picked on, and their parents continually drilled into their heads statements like, "They're just saying those mean things because they're jealous. They don't really mean it."

When normal people talk to each other, both people usually apply the appropriate amount of tact to everything they say, and no one's feelings get hurt. When nerds talk to each other, both people usually apply the appropriate amount of tact to everything they hear, and no one's feelings get hurt. However, when normal people talk to nerds, the nerds often get frustrated because the normal people seem to be dodging the real issues and not saying what they really mean. Worse yet, when nerds talk to normal people, the normal people's feelings often get hurt because the nerds don't apply tact, assuming the normal person will take their blunt statements and apply whatever tact is necessary.

So, nerds need to understand that normal people have to apply tact to everything they say; they become really uncomfortable if they can't do this. Normal people need to understand that despite the fact that nerds are usually tactless, things they say are almost never meant personally and shouldn't be taken that way. Both types of people need to be extra patient when dealing with someone whose tact filter is backwards relative to their own.

It's not about analyzing anybody...it's all about roles. We all play roles here.

Example: Philip is the owner of this site...he has overall responsibility, he's the leader of the group. But there are many informal leaders of this same group. Hell Yes is one of them. Prey is a big one. He is not the leader per se but rather the informal leader of the group.

Each forum has it's own informal leaders...look at Lobo.

Now there are other roles as well.

The mods are actually supposed to be facilitators...they keep the group focused, or at least try.

Group dynamics is cool because you can discover who fits what role and what motivates them to perform that role well. :D

Macho...you seem to fit the role of information giver which is a great task building role. You seek also but you mostly desire that of giving...I don't see you as a self serving, aggressor type.

We learned this quite a bit in high school, group structure and roles that is.

Good stuff, thanks for the refresher.

But you forgot one. There is also a sort of "cheerleader" role that keeps the group feeling positive and attempts to keep up spirits.

Who is the SG cheerleader? :rotfl:

I left out a great many roles...depends on whose version of group dynamics one uses...

SG Cheerleaders are the ones impervious to any conflict whatsoever...a bomb could go off and they wouldn't flinch...Minir and YoS...when have you seen them upset??? Weird aint it? :D

I know I don't post very often. However I do read the posts every day. I don't post for various reasons but the main reason is to avoid "flame wars". That being said, I have a comment/suggestion to the MODS concerning why this particular thread was started and the so called "MOD bashing".

Now for the comment:

Due to the fact that I live in Hawaii, by the time I get to the boards most of the "hot" threads have been closed. I feel the reason(s) for the MOD bashing is the perceived impression that the MODS must have the last word/comment. I can understand a short reason for closing a particular thread such as "Getting to hot.......closed" is and should be given, but if a MOD is going to close a thread they should refrain from posting a detail opinion or a rebuttal to a previous comment. IMO it's the detailed opinions given by a MOD before closing a thread is what cause people to get bent out of shape. I also feel that once a thread has been closed it should remain that......closed. The MODS also need to refrain from reopening a thread to post a comment then immediately close it. I think that also gets people bent out of shape. As we say in the military "Perception is reality."

Please keep in mind that I am in no way MOD bashing. The above comment is what an "outsider" sees that is not "emotionally involved" in the thread.

Peace:

I agree with you 100% and up until today I closed with a reason and my name. However today I made the mistake without thinking, I seen the comment directed at me and answered it and then closed the thread. I should have thought about how that would appear to some.

Lesson learned...

its about time companies and people realize…
It’s not really yours after all ;)

ahh foolish mortals, I have been around too long and have seem way too many dotcoms and internet sites go out of business because of the mentality, "its a private site"..

just face it the the entire world owns your soul and your internet site.. without the people you have no site plain and simple, Internet advertising is BS it's a dead concept, you don't make any money on it. let the people control the site and it will flourish and all will be good, the money will flow.

took my boss 5 years to realize that, now he drives Viper and I get the Z3

Concertrate on cashing the checks my man.. you'll get less headaches
