Goodbye steak...........hellooooooo veggies
Somehow I knew this thread about one person's efforts to better herself in a meaningful way would decay to it's current state.
I click on the last page to see how it's going and promptly read Randy talking about how Debbie "likes weeners."
I approve of course and am certainly not above such talk. <g> Carry on!

I was told by someone yesterday that I should not be shocked at the rapid weight loss as a result of eating this way.
The main thing is that I take my vitamins. I have a formula for my age (50+), taking a calcium supplement and today I am going out to get a B complex because I read that most vegetarians tend to not get enough B vitamins.
In 6 months, I'll post before and after pics.

Typically, vegetarians do fine for the B vitamins, except for B12.Debbie wrote:I was told by someone yesterday that I should not be shocked at the rapid weight loss as a result of eating this way.

The amount in my daily vitamin is low and I was looking at it would be alright by itself if I ate a normal diet. By eliminating so much, I want to make sure that I am getting enough. Do you think that by supplementing b-complex that it would be too much? I am still dealing with some stressful situations and maybe it is a good idea that I supplement? Or am I better off researching for B vitamin rich vegetables?David wrote:Typically, vegetarians do fine for the B vitamins, except for B12.
I can always get a monthly B12 shot from my doc. He would not have a problem with that.
Thank you David. You just help me answer my own questions:
Sources of B vitamins
* whole grains, such as wheat and oats
* fish and seafood
* poultry and meats
* eggs
* dairy products, like milk and yogurt
* leafy green vegetables
* beans and peas
The items in red I eat. I just have to make sure I incorporate more leafy veggies.

Just go to GNC and you can get b12 pills there. I picked some up and have been taking them everyday.Debbie wrote:The amount in my daily vitamin is low and I was looking at it would be alright by itself if I ate a normal diet. Well, last night, I got home by 9 p.m. because I had to work an event after 5. I keep a protein drink mix handy with me when I have to do that. So, I had that at 5 p.m. to hold me over until I got home.Roody wrote:What is the latest you eat in the day Debbie?
I had plenty of nourishment during the day between oatmeal, fruit, lentils and veggies. I did, however, eat a 1/2 avocado and had an orange when I got home.
I have a lot of walking in my commute and I dance 3x a week. I don't worry too much about the time of day I eat. I didn't really have to go to bed early either since I am off work today.
Ok, I didn't know if your diet required you to not eat after a certain time or not.Debbie wrote:Well, last night, I got home by 9 p.m. because I had to work an event after 5. I keep a protein drink mix handy with me when I have to do that. So, I had that at 5 p.m. to hold me over until I got home.

I don't worry about it because I have enough walking activity during the day, even on the days I am not dancing. What I am eating is really so light compared to the past. Now, if I ate a sandwich or other starches along with dense proteins, then I would say that is not good late at night.Roody wrote:Ok, I didn't know if your diet required you to not eat after a certain time or not.
I refuse to deny myself. I am one eatin GREEN Beeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaatch!!!

Still smoke and picked a quit date of July 15. By that time, I will be in a normal routine of eating this way. I am working on all of this with my doctor. He told me to do the following:Randy wrote:Deb, you smoke?
Be ready to taper off smoking while you build up your body with nutrition. Getting in the habit of proper nutrition will help support your body. July will be a good time. Let me know if you do start on that day.
Any other friggen questions you have because I know what you are trying to get at.
One Vice at a time beeeeyatch!!
