Is there need for tweaking TCP/IP on OS-X? (Intel-MacBook)

I have only had PCs until this week when I got a MacBook at the work. The machine appears to be behaving great but I have always depended on SG TCP Optimizer for tweaking TCP/IP under Windows XP.
My XP laptop WiFi sucks big time at its default values and I always run the Optimizer if I reinstall ...

I have done everything that was indicated in your post, and the read1st faster web page tweak. I have also done the tweaking on the router (Manual MTU:1500 and disable filter WAN request).
I cannot notice any difference in the tests. I get the same values from TPTEST.

ADSL 2048/256 kbps (No PPPoE)
ADSL Modem: Efficient Networks Speedstream 5100 Connected via ethernet.
Router: Linksys WRT54GS Official last american firmware.
NIC: Intel PRO 1000CT at 100Mbps (integrated NIC on Asus P4C800E-Dlx board)

I have been having problems these past weeks, and after running some tests with Visualroute I have found that it takes little too long time when I make a DNS query to the DNS server of my ISP. I can see at least for one second "DNS loockup" in Visuaroute's dislpay before it actually starts the trace ...

They have fixed something :)

It apears that I was not the only one pressing my ISP. They have reroute the traffic to some TELIA routers in Netherlands that are much more faster. The old ones had to have a fail, that is sure.

Yeah Bouncer, I have had to change DNSs sometimes before because the ones from mi ISP were slow, but ...

As I have written I have reinstalled the OS, so anything that could be broken has been installed again. IE 6.0 comes integrated with Windows XP.
