I have had to reset my speedtouch and I have got reconnected to the internet via enthernet cable but wont recognise my wireless. If I leave the wireless setting as automatic it will not see the router but if I change it to channel 6 it will. Only problem every time i try to connect to it it asks for user key I have tried a number of them that i can think of including administrator and wont connect....any suggestions are welcome. I configured the wireless settings through the speedtouch web site 192.

I have had this router for years through AOL and it worked fine. I set up a wireless network to be able to use the internet on my ipod touch and it was fine for just over a year. Suddenly it has stoppped access through my ipod, keeps asking for a password, when I put it in it says unable to join network. I have gone through all the set up stages using the install disk and set the password as before and it still won't work. Any ideas?

TERRIBLE ROUTER
DO NOT BUY
1. Poor speeds
2. Does not handle multiple connections very well.
3. Absurd Firmware
4. Cannot open UDP or TCP ports.
5. If ports are open on one client ports are closed on others.

It's just a really bad cheap router. Please save yourself and don't buy it.

I have the 585 router as well.
Every page / website I visit gives me the message "The connection has timed", it also disconnects halfway through playing games, which so far as cost me dearly in progress and money for the game I play.
Is there any way of updating the software at all ? In case that's what is needed...

May be out of place here...but I just wanted to share a useful website which lists default usernames and passwords of some of the most popular routers and modems. Check it out.

If any Pc is connected to internet with this Router. Then login in to 192.168.1.254. You will see the Thompson page up on screen. Click on Home Network on left side. Then on right side just under Wireless, you will see WLAN, Click on it. You will see Wireless Access Point page coming up. Now look on right hand side top, You will see there as Configure, just beside Help. Click on Configure. The page will be expanded. Scroll down and you will see as Encryption and under that Encryption Key. That is the Wireless key or Security key for your wireless connection.

It's not the router, it is possible that you've been hacked, someone has changed the setting via remote and disabled yr reset switch. I know this because i have done this in the past on my own router as a friend claimed he could disable any network he wanted.
