US Treasury's intelligence network vulnerable to hacking2015-07-24 11:12 by Daniela
A recent report from Reuters claims that a third of the devices in the Treasury Foreign Intelligence Network were vulnerable to hacking in 2014. Despite the fact, there is no evidence they were ever compromised.
The US Treasury's Foreign Intelligence Network is used to track foreign threats to America's financial system.
"Devices may not be protected with the most secure recommended configurations, increasing the risk of being compromised," the inspector general said.
The problem has been fixed since last year's government audit, the Treasury says.
"The inspector general's 2014 audit identified a minor issue on a very secure system," a spokesperson said in a statement. "Since the release of the audit, Treasury has remedied this matter."
