Google Pixel 2 Could Arrive Oct. 5

2017-08-24 17:52 by

According to famous leaker Evan Blass, Google is set to announce its Pixel 2 generation of devices on October 5th, 2017. The original Pixel devices were unveiled on October 4th last year, and went on sale the same month.

It is highly possible that the giant will hold a dedicated hardware event on the day, where additional products — like a new Chromebook Pixel and a smaller, cheaper Google Home smart speaker — may also be introduced.

Google is set to launch two phones in October: Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. The smaller one will have a 4.97-inch display, and will be manufactured by HTC, the same vendor that was responsible for both models last year. The Pixel XL 2 is rumored to have a 5.99-inch OLED display, similar to the LG G6. The Pixel XL 2 will be produced by LG Electronics, which is also said to supply OLED panels for the new Pixel phones.

The phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 836 SoC, according to Blass. An FCC filing for the new phones indicated they would use the Snapdragon 835 or updated 836.
