Hello,

I currently don't have a router but found that there's a built in XP firewall.

Is this good enough? Thanks!

XP firewall is fine. It will stealth common ports for you. It does a reasonable job protecting your machine. But it's drawbacks are: It doesn't log traffic, doesn't monitor outbound traffic and isn't real feature rich. If your interested in that type of functionality, I would suggest using a third-party software firewall like ZoneAlarm, BlackICE, Tiny, Outpost the list goes on. Avoid Norton tho, tends to be taxing on system resources.

A couple of them are free to use.

thanks for replying,

I don't really care much about the logging option. As long as it protects my machine for now till I get a router then I'm happy =)
