New Comp Problems

Post by IranianHobo »

Hey, got my new comp set-up and I have frequent power offs.

Specs :

ASUS p4S8X
P4 2.4B w/stock cooling
512 DDR 3200
Gainward gf4 4200
WD SE 80 gig
3 Case Fans

Everything running at stock

Temps- at idle
CPU : 30C
MB: 28 C

Voltages:
12v: 2.096
5v: 5.017
3.3v: 3.232
Vcore: 1.472

Comp frequently powers down when near idle and simple progs like AIM, and IE go out.

Any ideas as to what I should do?

I think I might have found the problem, my case fans are heat sensitive and they sometimes dip under the threshold so the mobo was auto power offing. I set the case fans to ignore. Hopefully this will work, post back in like 30 mins.

I'm with Amro on this one

Are you using the 300W PSU that came with your case? If memory serves, the psu was a pos. However it should work and your voltages look alright.

I'm assuming your 12v is not 2.096 and that it is 12.096 :D

PSU: Generic 350 Watts that came with case

I actually dont have a spare 4 pin plug to put into the EZ-Plug connector for the ASUS, meanth to say that earlier.

lol bob yeah I meant 12.096

I let it idle for about 2 hours and it didn't shut down but AIM still crashed.

Get back to this thread tommorrow time for some bed.

replace the psu. the wattage isn't everything if the 3.3v +5v rails combined can't draw much of it .... same thing w/ 12v. get an antec true power 430watt or similar..independant voltage rail pulls.. = = the nice

Ur vcore is low...it should be at least 1.5v. try setting it manually in the bios to 1.5 or 1.525 and see if that helps. ur other numbers look good. however that plug for the m/b is there for a reason and u need to get one plugged in there.
