I installed XP SP1. The IT guys at work assure me theres issues that are diffacult to explain. it seems to me alot of SP1 is a result of both bugs and the class action lawsuit. To do or not to do is a choice only you can make. :p

Service pack 1 is bad news. Do not install it just yet! If you want Virtual Machine get it off KaZaa. If you are having problems with IE, the thing to do is remove it then re-install IE. (Worked for me). I did get Netscape and it works great (get the new version). One more thing Netscape also stops a great deal of "pop-up's" another advantage over IE.

One more thing, if you want your XP system protected, then go to http://www.grc.com and get the XP patch , its small, its good and you do not need SP-1 . Lets wait 'till Microsoft can write a better service pack.

Cheers mate!

1) Don't download software off of Kazaa.
Thats a sure fire way of getting lord knows what type of malicious code forever mutating in your system. Get VM directly from Sun. :)

2) Netscape was once the best browser. Than AOL bought it and ruined a good thing. I myself like IE but if you want a good alternitive check out Mozzilla. If you don't like pop-up go to meaya.com.

3) Not only is SP1 "bad news" (I did get it though), but look at where Microsoft is headed. After hearing their plans for 'Longhorn'
and 'Blackcomb' I'm left scrambleing for a Linux distro to replace it with. I want my computer to be just that...A computer.
Besides the system requirements that these future OS's will require will make the leaner machines yet to be perform as well as the present ones. Wheres the progress in that.

Bill Gates does have vision. Windows is a great OS, but he knows it needs to be more. As it all unfolds it will be intresting none the less. I just want to be prepared for the worse.
;) ;)

Not a single problem here either, and it fixes a major security hole that windows update does not. But it's your choice. I haven't noticed any bugs or clitches. I would like to hear some of the reasons why some of you say it's "bad news"
I have read this on a few different levels, but haven't experienced any, so fill me in. What's the problem with SP1?

Plug n play is only a quarter of what SP1 fixes in the security area. It fixes 300 bugs to be exact. Not to mention the security fixes, at least 6 depending on how often you visited windowsupdate.com

Hello!!!

Why download MSVM from Kazaa when you can get it from Microsoft?

http://www.microsoft.com/java/download/dl_sdk40vm.htm0

Kazaa is bad news.

Get Kazaa Lite if you want to use Kazza.

I have no problems with SP1, I feel it is fairly safe to install from my experience.
