You read the title: beging tweaking. I have been registered for a while, but have been on dialup until a week ago, so had no need to tweak.

My sea.speakeasy.net results are:

"2002-09-06 23:06:20 EST: 6382 / 3348
Your download speed : 6382489 bps, or 6382 kbps.
A 779.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 3348214 bps, or 3348 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!"

which changes quite a bit however, but the highest i have gotten is around 7200 for down, and 6800 for the up.

My tcp/ip analyizer goes as follows - and i know by reading this that i have to change some things, but don't want to screw things up. - i have tcp/ip optimizer and cablenut freshly installed:

"Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405640101010101010402

MTU = 1420
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.

MSS = 1380
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1380, which equals MSS.
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 1460
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 1460
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
507840 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
253920 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
126960 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
63480 (MSS x 46)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 58.4 kbps (7.3 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 23.36 kbps (2.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 50 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000"

tk in advance.

that means win2k

and its pro

you should select extreme for the tcp/ip optimizer, after you select your network card, then hit optimal settings at the bottom.. and then hit apply. Then restart... and you should see a big difference in the speed based on what your analyzer results were before as you showed us. The settings might not be changable.. b/c i've seen results from people on college connections where they tried to change registry settings for thier connection and it wouldn't let them to be changed. So try that out and see what happens.

Fractured T3? I fractured T1-t3, and herniated L1 and L2 and I was stoned on pain meds(percocet and mscontin) for 8 months
I never enjoyed computing so much in my life
