Here's the scoop:

I bought a new HP laptop. It comes with an "Intergrated 56Kbps modem and 10/100 Ethernetcard". I'd like to hook my laptop up to my desktop, for file transfering, as well as to use the internal (Intel) DSL modem.

I am told that this is pretty easy to do with Ethernet. All I need to do then, is put a card in my destop. I've read up some on the things I need IP-wise. That doesn't worry me. I'm pretty sure I can figure that out.

What I'm curious about, is if there's any known issues networking a WIN 98 machine (the sever/desktop) with the laptop using WIN XP. I've got some older programs on the 98 machine that I'd like to keep. Which is why I'm not keen on upgrading that machine.

I've never done this sort of thing before.
So any advice would be gladly accepted.
