is this a good speed or can it be improved

heres my specs

athlon 1200
384 mb ram
1 mb cable connection

heres the analizer resalts

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 27740
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 27740
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1109.6 kbps (138.7 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 443.84 kbps (55.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 52 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

thanx in advance

;)

You didn't post any speed test results? Please read here so that we can properly help you. :)

The TCP/IP Analyzer is not a speedtest. :)

Your download speed : 465941 bps, or 465 kbps.
A 56.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 238095 bps, or 238 kbps

If your speeds are 1MB down then they are pretty far off, try the suggestions at the bottom of my thread "My Tips" and see if anything helps it. :)

80-90% of your ISP's caps, hopefully closer to 90%. :)

Cyberdude, may I ask what ISP you have and how much you pay for it?

I'm quite interested.

On the site http://www.blueyonder.co.uk all I could find was a 576k broadband connection available. Are you sure its 1mb and not 576k? You might have been mistaken.

If thats the case, your pretty mcuh nearing your caps.

I got the same caps as you (if the case is true) and on average I get...

** Speed 477(down)/232(up) kbps **
(At least 9 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

About asmuch upload as I'm going to get, but the download can do with a little more tweaking. :)
