This was posted on WARP2Search today and I thought it might be good brain food if we looked over these settings and sort of took what we needed and left the rest. I have very limited knowledge of network registry settings so would offer these for explanation comments etc:

Posted: Wed Jul 03, 2002 9:30 am Post subject: Boost your cable modem with Win2k

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I tried a plethora of tweaking programs for my cable modem and NEVER had a good result, I decided to do it myself and finally got a result way beyond my expectations after a battery of tests. Some friends of mine were really surprised so that's why I'll share it here. You need Win2k and these parameters has only been tested with Videotron I.S.P. So Videotron users, you're the lucky ones. This should work great with other providers. If it's not the case, just let me know:

Most of these aren't needed or optimized (in my opinion), Cablenut will allow you to set all the ones that are important. :)

Not me either :)

I agree with mnosteele. Most are not needed and are not optimized. Of allthe programs and tweaks I have used Cablenut has all the settings needed to fully optimize one's connection.

Mnosteele:

Thanks for posting the Cablenut settings for Windows 98/ME. I'm already using most of the ones that you posted(per an earlier suggestion by you) and will update my list. I see you have added "NameTableSize" and "TcpTimedWaitDelay" to the list and have changed the value of "DefaultTOS" from 92 to 44.

Fudgemaker:

If Mnosteele says they're optimal settings for Windows 98/ME, I'll put my money on him. :)

mnosteel... i was wondering if you could show me the key locations in regedit for those entries.. cause i couldn't find all of them and know where to put some of the ones i don't have already.. so could you please tell me where exactly to put them?

They are all in Cablenut. Just open Cablenut's adjuster and select options - show paths - yes, then click on a value to show the registry key. :)

Mnosteele52, that should read "GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize"

That is from George @ Axcel 216. :)
