Here's an ugly error....

When booting up a Win2K Server...specifically my own small business 2000 server....when it's almost to the point of getting to the desktop, a blue screen appears:

STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failuer} The registry cannot load the fine (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writeable.

Then a memory flush, and reboot....repeat over and over and over.

Had my home server sitting at the office while I'm moved out of my home this summer during a total home rebuild...so I ran it on our network at the office just churning some Genome. One day went to power it down, few days later powered back up...and this happens.

Oh well, that's what I get for using a freebie Maxtor hard drive in that server, (brand new, but I hate Maxtor/Quantum, just had it for free from a recent upgrade for someone) just got a nice new liquid bearing Seagate 'cuda IV which I'll use....time to install again. heh. (also another I got from a recent upgrade for someone....brand new) Man I love my job sometimes.

Whenever a situation like this means the (excuse) to buy something totally new and cool, it's not a Bad Thing. ;) Have fun with that new drive!

Heh, I've thought of many things. Brake-stand in 4 wheel low on my Jeep for one. Target practice for another. 40 pound construction hammer over the top a few times. Or just doing a hundred down the highway one night, tossing it out the window...and seeing what's left after it grinds to a halt across the pavement after 88 trillion summersaults.

is that a compusa regional or district thing? or is that nationwide? We've got 2 CompUSA's in Orlando, both inconviently 45 minutes away from me in opposite directions, but that would be worth the fight through hellish tourist/retiree traffic!
