Need Perfect/Usable RWIN

Hello, I'm new to the board but I've been visiting SpeedGuide for a while now. My company (Earthlink) had sent me here in the first place. I have been having problems with my registry settings, I think I have adjusted everything but I need some help with my RWIN. Earthlink assures me that the server is very close to me and if I am having any problems it is on my end....

I am using: Windows ME and RASPPPOE | Earthlink ADSL

TCP options string = 020405ac0103030201010402

MTU = 1492
MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 118 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Please help me out and give me any suggestions that should help my connection.

You should either get the patch for PPPoE connections or get SG Optimizer and choose the DSL PPPoE connection. That way, your Rwin will be a multiple of your MTU and thus be a little faster. Sadly we can't find the perfect Rwin for you, since everybody's computer is different. However, we could narrow it down if you are willing to post your system specs. :) In order to find the right Rwin for you, you will have to do some experimenting on your own. :)

Try Tcp Recieve Windows (Custom settings) of 31944 or 63888 if one in now 255552 does not work :)

I've tried all 3 of the specified RWIN values and none of them work for me :( . I am getting packet loss and my speed is not stable...

What is your rated speed and what kind of speeds are you getting now? :)

The maximum speed you can get with EarthLink DSL is 1.5Mbps

I'm downloading 60kb/sec :(

Try RWINs 95832, 127776, 200376. Also try the NIC buffer tweak in "My Tips" in my sig. :)

I applied the NIC buffer tweak and tried the values assigned... nothing helped....

By the way at night my connection becomes 26 times faster then a 56k according to SpeakEasy

but right now its was 7 times faster then i did it again and its 20.....

In Optimizer do you have DSL (PPPoE) selected at top :)

yes sir, I am using the DSL PPPoe settings, just changing the RWIN value... I'm experiencing high packet loss..... Web Pages are real slow right now with RWIN set to 255552.....

I don't know what to do :(
