I just installed windows 2000 pro and was wondering if someone could inform me how to tweak my DSL connection.

I'm running

Win 2000 pro
500mHz Celeron
256mb ram
DSL PPPOE connectino with the connection manager installed

MTU = 1454

Are you on PPPoE:





PPPoE you have to log on to the internet with username and password. (Not log on to Windows)
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session. You have to log on with name and password everytime you access net with PPPoE.

If you are on PPPoE this may help you to get MTU to 1492 where it should be, here

I did as told but could not find TunnelMode in the reg of my windows 2000 pro. I've also just installed the sguide_tweak_2k_pppoe.zip patch and this is what I"m getting now.
