Hello,

At home, I use a cable modem to access the internet. However, when I do company business, I have to dial into an 800 number to connect to my corporate server, which is God-awful slow. And I can then use Novell to connect to my local office server.

I was wondering if there's a way that I can connect to my company's server via cable modem. Our LAN administrator says it's possible, but has no clue how (go figure!).

Your administrator better get acquainted with Virtual Private Networking (VPN). There are so many solutions out there, albeit, not very cheap. My company offers different VPN solutions based on the OS of the user. We are using a Shiva Solution integrated with RSA Secure ID Key Fobs. All Windows 2000 client can connect natively using EAP, and we utilize this by adding the Key fob add-on from RSA to the actual connection....It works almost like you are in the office at the desk...but that depends on your speed. I use a cable modem and get pretty good response.

I have also seen VPN in an HTTP relam where everthing is web based OWA, (Outlook Web Access), Online Documentation libraries where you can access your documents via a web based interface. That is not as nice as the abve VPN's where you are actually using the resouces of your desktop like your at the office...
