help to network XPpro to win98se

I did sucess networking COMP1 running XPpro (NTFS, 3com NIC) to COMP2 running 98se (FAT32, netgear 10/100 NIC) using a linksys 4 port router, both comp's internal IP is manually assign(DHCP disable), overall thru put is acceptable, 7.5MB/s, problem is everytime I click a folder or save something from comp1 to comp2, sometime takes up to 10 sec for the folder to start opening or the file to start saving.
It work fine before when comp 1 is running winME, but when I did a clean install XP, I can choose which protocol to use, but cannot bind netbeui for internal networking and TCP/IP for the internet, the binding option is not there. Don't know which protocol I am networking right now because the option is not there.
Comp 1 is my main comp and not sharing anything. Pic below
Comp 2 is an old Dell 133mhz which I install a second HD for use as a network HD for files and mp3 storage. I did enable NETBEUI on comp2 to bind with file and print sharing for internal networking and TCP/IP for the internet, both NIC is 100mb full dulplex.
Seems like the 2 comp are using a different protocol, but somehow network together, thanks for reading the long post.
