Thanks, and sorry about the view thing. windows kept reloading the page. Why would it do that though?

I know that. I hit refresh and it wouldn't stop. I had to restart my computer to get it to stop.

w00t has taken on a life of it's own within certain subcultures. It is used for many reasons. Some see it as a cool thing, some use it to annoy people who always complain that a mere word annoys them, and there is yet another group that use it because they see others using it and think that they too should use it, even if they don't know why they are. It's also used by people who just want to fit in.

It is a simple expression of joy. notice that like many other slang terms it is shorter than most of the words that can mean the same thing. Once again, shortening attention spans and vocabularies are to blame for this.

Examples

Think Homer Simpson here...

Woohoo!! ---kinda awkward, sound too much like a choclate beverage, and is too many sylablles.

w00t!! ---Much shorter, easier to remember for attention span deprived youth's.

also of signifigance is the 00 instead of oo. This is used to be different, to standout. once again, making up for things people lack. Whether there is more signifigance in the use of 00, is up for debate. Is this an expression by them that they feel they are nothings? Who knows. Could it have some hidden meaning that the mainstream hasn't picked up on yet? Sure.

It could also be that most of the people who use it don't have the intellect that Homer J. Simpson has.
