I had digital cable and cable internet from Time warner. But yesterday I cancelled digital cable but kept the cable internet. so the guy today, picked up the box and put a filter on my line so i can get cable tv. but he never made sure it works. only 20 out of the 60 something channels were not clear. hmmmm. so i thought why not see all of them clear so i went to the box in my backyard and took that filter off. now i have basic cable not digital (no box :( ) So everthings working fine except now when i check my email it says incorrect password. was working fine till yesterday. hmmm. so i went to account management on road runners site and tried to login but nope......

you guys think they accidentally cancelled my road runner service in their account thing but i am still getting service?

should i call them and ask them? or wait 20 days till the next bill comes?

The next bill whcih you receive may well be a true bill from the local grand jury. What you did is a felony in many jurisdictions. I'd suggest you put the filter back.

I would check your settings & call your cable provider. Tell them that you are still getting cable & make sure they know you don't want it...
As for your password problems, contact your isp & have them reset your password. ;)

as for now i am going to leave it like this. and see if they charge me for internet on the next bill. if they don't i am going to keep my mouth shut. if they do i am going to call and tell them about the password. and maybe ;) put the filter back on. --(______)---

thats the filter they put on. cable line from the box ---(filter)----then cable to my home.

Yea Dude they canceled your acount. I had the same thing happen. I moved about 100 miles away and was going to keep the same ISP (RR) they canceled my account when I canceled my cable. When I had another modem installed I did not have have the mail acounts. I just called and yelled at them. They corrected it. They first told me there was nothing I could do about the old Email acounts but after I stood firm with them they gave me back the Email acounts.
You will just have to give them a call and be firm with them and not let them give you no crap

That filter that you took off does nothing really except cancel the extra noise on your TV when white letters appear on the screen... (the digital box has a different kind built in). Are you on a 2 way system? Or did your digital box need a phone line? I'd call the cable company and request a service call. If they did cancel your internet, its only a matter of time before the MAC address of your modem is removed from the database, and you will end up calling them anyway.

Not so. It's there to block cable TV channels for a modem-only account. Filters to suppress upstream noise are installed before the TV but after the splitter for the cable modem.

It has nothing to do with the operation of your modem.

no no no. it blocks the tv signal. Like u know how ur channel looks without a antenna or cable connection. that snowy picture...thats what it looks like on about 20 channels. others are fine. my digital box didn't need a phone line.

I called the cable company and they said I still have the rr service with them. so i went to box in my backyard and i found two filters that look exactly like the one they put on my line. the only difference there's two of them...like this ---(ooooo)----(ooooo)----

and the number is etd-g

#1 first thing you need to do is stop messing with the cable plant. Thats a big no no, I'd personally smack you in the face if I saw you doing that in my area ;) Taking a filter off is definately a felony, and I cant believe you felt you had the right to do so, but I guess some people dont think.

Yep, like Wee said, tampering with the cable line is considered cable theft and is considered a felony theft. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time ;)
