Linux how to's

I'm very frustrated with linux now. I don't know anything about it and I can't load any drivers or anything. I go to the websites but they don't help any. I have Mandrake 7.2. I have a Linksys 10/100TX card that I'm trying to load. I don't know anything. I don't know how to compile, configure on it. Nothing. Someone please point me in a good, better direction.
