You mean just for basic storage of the files themselves?
All my misc. downloads go into a dowloads folder with the name of the month. Then I can just scroll through the months.
All music one place, all images another places, all music into artist name.
How can you arrange all your programs like that? I have all my programs installed under Program Files, so that's where they are.

I have a folder called $h1t and a folder called stuff, into which I randomly toss doc's, pics, movies, etc.
If you saw my real life desktop this would be very unsurprising.

i just got done reorganizing my stuff last night.
I have My Documents folder, with all the below folders in it.
Programs folder - all my DL'ed programs
My Music folder - all my mp3's, wavs', .rm, and .wpm files.
BackupRegistries - all my registy files I backup, so if i mess something up, I can revert back to an origional file
Mods - any mods/patches for games
Movies - movie files, flash animations, etc
My Pictures - pictures of stuff, mostly things I find on the internet, and want to save as a desktop, or something
My Webs - stuff for web designing
Serial #'s - I have a master document with all the programs I have and the serial #'s for them
Then, I have C: D: and E:
C is for the install of WinXP
D: is for APPS. everything is listed in its' own program folder.
E: is for GAMES. Each game is in it's own game folder.

Hi JLR
I partioned mine 20GB HD
C = Windows
D = Utilities
E = Programs
F = Downloads
G = Jpegs,Mpegs, etc
H = Backups
I = Cd Drive
Use Folders With names i relate to
Tweaks
Family Stuff
Drivers
Jokes
Pics
Search
That kinda thing, if C crashes (touch wood) is doesn't wipe out everything
Norm taught me to take Sys. Dat. & User Dat. from C
Window and copy it to H for a backup.
I usually do it a few days after changing something, and know it's working ok
I copy it to a file called Regback in H.
My Buddy made a Batch file for me that allows me to go Scanreg/restore type my name in and it replaces the C with the H and i'm back in business in a min.
Works great.
hope this is of some help, by the way i use PowerDesk Pro which is a Freebie and just Great for doing this kind of stuff.
regards
minir

I just have one BIG Download folder with categories for Crackz, WinAMP Stuff, and so on whatever I get loads off I make an extra folder for.
mp3s are organized by
type of music, artist, album, then artist - song.mp3
all Images go into the images folder, installed progs go to the prog files folder, that's it.
forgot to mention I ren all downloaded files to something where I know what it is...
ex; ever download those files which are name like I2b1b432. ?
ICQ2000beta1 Build432
so I rename it to like
ICQ 2000b 1 build 432

On my 4 gig partition i have a folder called my files and a backup folder.
inside the "my files" folder i have various sub folders named
PICTURES - picture and some sub folders of family and uh.. "other" pictures
INSTALLERS AND PATCHES - basiclly all my small installer files like winamp, winzip, IRC, and game patches like half life and counter strike.
DRIVERS - catagorized into sub folders of win2k, win98 and winXP
MP3S - obviously mp3s and some are divided up by artist
VIDEOS - just some funny videos i downloaded back in the AOL days
I also use the "my documents" folder for school documents
edit: a lot of junk i just throw into the root "my files" directory
