A friend of mine has a copy of windows XP. On the general tab of the system properties it gives windows version information. It says version 2002. Is this the most recent version?? Ive seen posts for some 2600version. Whats that?

I have 2505 which is RC1, I did not put RC2 on which probably had a higher version number, Version 2600 is a Warez copy, good for 30 days, then you cannot log on, the 25th of Oct they will release the final version (Higher than 2600) in stores :)

I have 2600... I doubt it will ever evaluate. If this were an evaluation copy it would say it in About windows. It would say how many days I have left. I bet that if you do it with yours, it will tell you. Click Start > Run and type winver, click Ok. Check it out... How many days ya got left? ;)

I highly doubt it. If it's not in there then I don't think it will expire. :)

From folks "in the know" I have heard that 2600 IS the final, and that it will NOT expire. This is just what I've heard... I'll let you know for sure in about 28 days!

This is Windows XP Pro build 2600.0, a pre-release version of the release...

vcd.exe allows you to mount the ISO as a folder and install from there.

The "RTM" Release-To-Manufacturing version, e.g. the final version you buy
in the store, will be build 2600.1. RTM 2600 should upgrade over this
build 2600.0 very easily.

Windows XP Pro build 2542 and higher 30 day key:

Yes, I believe there's a version 2600.1 . You can install patches/crackes on your XP 2600 to make it no activation...

Hope that helps
