I doubt you need to worry. Some other company will take advantage of this and just buy them. Do you really think THAT many cable customers will just be let down?
Oh, and cable isnt going down, thats an ABSURD comment.

Comcast has already offered up some $50 billion for AT&T's broadband section.AT&T wants $70 billion...I wish they would get it over with as AT&T has pulled most all contracts for new/rebuild of plant. There are alot of us that make a living on this industry..and rite now I'm starving man.

Does having comcast@HOME make any difference as to whether my service will get cut if the company goes under?

i am an @home user , and personnally i think its horrible, the uploads just plain old suck, my max upload is 15 k/sec, not nearly enough for my needs.
and is @home goes down perhaps a new better company would take it over, such as att, or ever road runner , and mabe make my life better by giving me better services
i highly doubt that @home will just go down, and leave so many people with out internet.

Basically, @Home said they need more funding before December 31st to stay in business. The report filed with the SEC can be found here:
http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_fil ... a82001.pdf
It is entirely possible that they will file for bankruptcy before the end of the year. However, this will not be the end to broadband over cable. It is more likely that the MSO's will lease backbone from another vendor such as Road Runner or create their own broadband services. It is also possible that @Home will go under and the MSO's will buy parts of @Home peace meal. I warned everyone on this board months ago about @Home as well as other broadband provicers. SBC was losing money on their DSL until they went to $49.95 a month. Not sure on the profitability after the price increase. AOL/Time Warner is heavy in debt,
http://www.billparish.com/20010404americaonline.html
, AT&T is also heavy in debt to the tune of over 60 billion. A recent report on CNBC indicated that 80% of all ISP's are losing money. To put it simply...the cost of maintaining and upgrading these systems is extremely high.

THis prolly won't effect me much since I use AT&T@Home and it's practically AT&T running the whole joint down here now with AT&T Broadband, so i'm sure they will continue as my ISP
at least I hope so cause I don't have DSL access here, too far away from the C/O, so I'd be without broadband if they stopped service

@home is just a backbone service that companies are leasing, you had better believe that the cable companies using that service will have another provider in place to switch over their customers to the new backbone, it will just mean a change of content, no @home browser, less bs and better all around service. I wouldn't get concerned about it. No one's service is likely to go under.
