I have a major proposal for everybody!!!

We all come to SG to learn and to help eachother out, correct?

I propose that all new posts in the general forum, not replies to posts , but new posts come with an included computer tip of your choosing. If you want to include a tip with your replies then so be it.

The format should be a bold, identifying statement under your post that it is a tip.

Since I'm starting this off, I'll go first with an example.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Tip: to use the windows task switcher to toggle between many open programs, simply use alt+tab keys to switch between open proggies.

Any way, if you like the idea, then use it. If not, don't. I would just like to hear some knowledge from some of our more silent members. :D So, I'll lead by example.

you don't have to come up with a tip to post a reply...just a new post that you start! For one, I think that it will cut down on the spam a whole lot because no one could really say that you are spamming as long as you post a tip that has useful information in it.

So if JoeSh!ttheragpicker posts "my snake slithers this way and that" but he attaches a tip to it, so what! You might have just learned something. This will hopefully be adopted by the masses and we can finally say goodbye to spam!!! Wishful thinking I know, but possible if we really want it to happen. :D

Well CompGeek, if you had properly read my 2 posts, which you didn't, you would have noticed that it was strictly voluntary.

Do you have some way to enforce volunteerism?

BTW, I respectfully submit to you that your type of post is exactly what makes this board NO FUN! :D

Have a great weekend!

good thoughts uod2001. I like the idea, not sure if it will work or not, but none the less it is a good idea. Thank you for coming up with a way to improve the board and not just complaining about the state of them.
