Drivers for a modem? Do you have an internal or USB modem? There are no drivers for ethernet modems...

No, just use the driver that comes with the card. You dont want to start mixing that stuff up. Why would you want to try a different driver? I mean, if they wanted you to use other ones, wouldnt they have included those too?

not for a differnet card, just a newer updated version of the driver, or a older version?

Like everything else, it depends.
Try the latest driver it should be better. Or even if you know the chipset of your card exactly and also know another manufacturer that also uses this chipset you can use their driver as well.

Although it isnt common, sometimes updating the NIC driver does improve bandwidth. No reason not to keep everything up to date, so I say get the newest drivers.
