Can anyone out there tell me for certian that the Netgear fa311 NIC supports the 802.1p frme type?

trying to get QoS running in win2k domain and im stonewalled unless it supports it. Netgear tech support wasn't very reassuring in their anwser.

You should look at your driver options. If it has an option for it listed then it supports it, otherwise it does not. Actually, remembering from looking at the FA311's drivers it did not have 802.1p support in them :-(. You could try using the FA310's driver set which may have support for it (the FA310 has more options in its drivers than the FA311). Really NDIS (the part of windows that handles OSI layers 1 & 2 on your NIC) is the one that enables features on the NIC but the driver miniport specifies which ones are available and which ones are not and how to activate them. I'll ask cablenut if he has 802.1p working on his FA311 with the FA310 driver set. Someone might be able to explain the NDIS part a bit better in a simpler fashion or hopefully you already know this .

Sadly the FA311 does not support 802.1P, neither does the ,FA310/FA312. The Intel 100+ Management 8460b chipset ethernet card supports 802.1P Quality of Service.

although i hope i dont need to buy new nic's for all my machines:-(
but at least ill know im not crazy.i been through ALL the options and 802.1p isnt listed anywhere.
I am curious though about using 310 drivers.....would that kill my 10/100 ability?
310 are 10mbps cards 311's are 10/100mbps cards.

Thank you for pin pointing my problem.....has been on going for sometime now.
Just got to figure out how to drum up some cash now.......any one need a hit put out on someone? lol
