@Home Speed Patch kills download ability

Hi:
I have installed most of the tweaks on this board with good success. However, I last put on the @Home Speed Patch and got a great increase on the speed test -- from 708(down) to 2205. Web pages just jump on the screen.
BUT... Now I cannot get any file downloads to work. For example, trying to get Symantec's latest virus def update may load 100K or so and it just stops. I get from 0-100K on downloads and then nothing.
I removed the @Home Speed Patch and I can download just fine again on a number of test sites. But, I want to have my cake and eat it to -- am I missing something -- Is there a way to use the @Home Speed Patch and still be able to get downlods to work?
I am running a fresh reinstall of Win98SE and running cox@home in Hmapton Roads, Virginia.
Thanks in advance

Restore your registry to a date before you applied the @home speed patch. There is a warning about the file causing problems for that patch. Anyway, to restore your registry restart in MS-DOS mode. type scanreg /restore. Then pick a date before the patch. Reboot and let us know if it worked or not. Back up your registry before applying any changes!:2cool:

Well The @home patch I noticed changed the RWIN to 373360 thats it. I guess that is not an valid multiple of MSS so I found a good multiple of that is really uncanny how close it is to the @home speed patch
Try changing Your Rwin 372360
PLease not that I didnt uninstal the @home patchbefore I changed the Rwin To the New multiple, when I did this downloads worked fine and good here is my best test result so far.
Test file size: 500 KB
Download time: 0.88 seconds
Estimated line speed: 4545.5 Kbps
Estimated transfer rate: 568.2 KB/sec
Tell Me If It Works

Hi:
Thanks for the ideas. I have already registery to its original state, so I am back to square one. I have put on the sguide_tweak_98.zip and mtupatch98.zip patches but not the @home speed patch and am running OK as far as download capability.
I am running a Dell P-II, 400MHz with 128-MB ram and an 30-GB hard drive. My connection is cox@home in South Hampton Roads, Virginia. This is a "fresh" reinstall as I just rebuilt the Windows installation on this PC.
Thanks for the help.

You should warn him that if he does go back, he will more than likely have to reinstall any programs that he's installed since that date.

Thanks for the "heads up." I have not installed anything new, so that is a non-issue.

Don't try to understand lobo, he does things a little unorthodox but, somehow it usually works.
