I got a new printer

About 2 months ago I decided to go and get me a laser printer. It's a Canon MF654Cdw. Our old printer has been broken for a long time and whenever I needed something printed (which isn't often at all) I'd just go to the local UPS store and print it there. Now I've got a very nice unit and over the last 2 months it's been behaving great. This is also my first wireless printer and I'm loving that feature.

This thing is really nice.

I lile Laser printers as well, I've had a couple of Brother printers in the last 20 years that saw some heavy use from the wifey. I use a printer/scanner that is wired via Ethernet, only connected to a switch/router. Wireless clients can still find it on the LAN and print to it, and the toner lasts a long time. I've seen a few cheap consumer models with really small/expensive toner cartridges, I wouldn't buy anything like that, just something to look out for.

We do very little printing here. Actually, we do so little printing I was just going to the local UPS store and using their printers when I needed something printed. One reason I stayed away from ink printers is that we hardly used them and the ink was drying up before we had used even 1/4th of the ink. I checked the prices on new laser printer cartridges and I've already purchased one and it's sitting next to the printer. God knows when I use up the one that came with the printer. Like I mentioned, we maybe print 30-40 things a year, this printer was on sale and the cartridges aren't too bad... why not?

Absolutely, laser toner doesn't dry out, and they beat Inkjets for consumables too.

Laser Printers are the best.
Couple years back the Wife found a good deal on a Canon MF242 on Marketplace.

Toner in it lasted for nearly 2 years.

I print a bit more these days. But the thing just works. I hardwired it to the Network. No issues whatsoever.

Hi BaLa,
Yeah, I like them wired to the LAN as well, I've had a few issues with entering/remembering Wi-Fi credentials on some printers before.
