Window's Photo not working

Post by Easto »

How do I reinstall or repair Windows Photo? This morning when trying to open a photo I was greeted with the message that there is a problem with the app and I should contact my administrator about reinstalling or repairing it. I can still view my photos in Lightroom, but it appears that MS Photos is on the fritz. So far all I've done is rebooted my computer, but that did not help.

Try this.. Navigate to Settings (The gear icon on the left in the start menu), Apps & Features, Microsoft Photos > Advanced Settings > Reset

Philip, Thanks for the suggestion. Photos is grayed out and will not let me move or uninstall. I'll do some more searching.

Found solution...
In the registry, delete all the sub-keys in this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\StateChange\PackageList.

Then reboot.

Interesting.. I have no sub-keys in there.
